Good food but bad service! 🙁 We were told that there was a 25 min wait and gave our name and number. Ended up waiting almost an hour before we asked about our table. We were told we were being seated next. Then we waited 30 min more and checked a second time with the host, since we were the only people left waiting. We had seen multiple people that came after us get seated. We were also waiting right by the host stand for almost 60 min so she could definitely see us waiting.
Turns out the host had forgotten about us… After waiting for almost an hour and a half, next to the host stand. I was upset and made a sarcastic comment about having to wait longer, which I do regret saying. We had been crossed off the waiting list by mistake, which was a genuine accident. However, the host then told me that I was being rude to her as we were being seated. Shortly after starting our dinner we were interrupted again by a server not assigned to our table. She told me that the host was having a bad day and I was told to apologize to her.
I am very sorry that the host was upset by my comment, but I find it VERY inappropriate that an uninvolved server came up to us while we were eating to bring up very specific personal issues about what was going on in the host’s personal life. I do think I could have handled the situation better on my end, but being asked “how I can make it up to the host” was way over the line. The interaction was over and it did not need to be brought up again.
As a note, the actual server assigned to our table went out of her way to ensure we had an enjoyable experience after this situation.
I have really enjoyed eating at Sushi Train for a while now and the food is great for the price range. But I don’t feel comfortable going there again knowing that I may have another bad experience like this. We will not be returning. This occurred on 10-9-21

Great sushi for very low prices. Definitely worth visiting for people who want to try a wide variety of types and maybe see something new you might like!
Street parking is a little difficult in this corner, I'd recommend taking the metro and walking the few blocks but otherwise several parking garages are nearby if you're willing to pay.

Seemed like a cool place, but never got to try it. We were sat at the bar, but we asked to sit somewhere else. Lady just disappeared. We saw an empty table and sat there. Lady manager told us it's not self seat and had us get up. While we were waiting, she told us that it will be 18% gratuity because we were more then 5 people. Still we were not seated. While we were waiting they told us to move because we were in the way. Lol. If you seated us we won't be in the way. Anyway, service seems rude from other reviews and from our experience. We left without trying. Better places to eat around the city. Not worth it.

Went here last month with my girlfriend for her birthday, was amazing and everything you’d expect out of a conveyor sushi restaurant. It’s also pretty reasonably priced.
Great service and good food 10/10

My family and I had lunch here while staying in downtown Minneapolis. The food was fantastic and the experience was memorable. I would recommend this place to any sushi lover!

Fresh food, beautifully made, visually pleasing. It was fun to see different options "ride" past while eating. Pricing was incredibly reasonable. Nice location, although you may have to pay for parking and/or walk a few blocks. Staff was friendly and helpful. Cant wait to return.

I really enjoyed the service my waiter Jerry was really nice. The food was definitely passable. Perhaps it was the items I had but the temperature of some of the items were a bit concerning to me. The seaweed salad was great but a tad bit on the sweeter side. I think the largest drawback for me was the smell of the restaurant and maybe it was just a weird day for them but there was a really strong ‘restaurant musty’ scent in there, which at a point started burning my nose and eyes and stayed in my clothing. I’m sure it’s not something that can’t be fixed with better ventilation. But for this reason I’ve given them 4 stars. Beyond that I enjoyed the experience and I would like to be back but only if that ventilation is fixed.

Phenomenal sushi. Sashimi is huge, thick slices and the quality is great. The Hokkaido Roasted Scallop is fantastic and we are absolutely coming back to est here once a month.

The experience here was so much fun! Wonderful vibe. Our server was attentive to our needs and made the most AMAZING drinks EVER! We had fun and were able to joke around with him which only added to the experience!!! He knows what questions to ask and based on your answers what best to recommend! Most definitely coming back!!!

Poor quality food for such hiked up price. For the price I paid i could have gone to somewhere else (like yumi's) for much better food. Service was good...won't go back though. Interesting/ fun experience as I have never been to a sushi train restaurant.

Best place for entertaining sushi. Conveyer belt sushi is by far the best way to sample and taste rolls you've never had before. Bringing more than 4 people is a little hard to manage however. Booths are not large enough for 6.

Chew-chew! This was such a great little afternoon trip! Little pricey, but you have to come to expect this from a themed sushi joint like this. Sushi was fresh, sides came quickly and service was really friendly. COVID rules adhered to and no crowds to worry over. You want to try everything which doesnt help with the final colored plate stack. Experienced this in Japan, but I would say our experience here in the States was much more enjoyable. Staff were much more attentive and understanding of the whole process. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

Everything is fresh and tasty! You can get sake flights. The conveyor includes several types of dessert. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back.

Great COVID protocols. Temp checks, distanced seating, and contact tracing. The food is always delicious, the service is great, and it's such an enjoyable and unique dining experience.

I really like all of the varieties of salmon they have. Raw, smoked and seared. Each has a drastically different flavor! This place is definitely a fun place to eat. So far it's the only conveyor belt sushi in MN.
Currently my favorite place for sushi in the twin cities.

Out of every restaurant that we’ve been to since the shut down, Sushi Train definitely had the best Covid-19 protocols. They take your name and number down, and only seat every other booth, which I appreciate since I really haven’t seen the same in many other restaurants. The experience of just picking off what you want from the conveyor belt is so fun, and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back!

As very big sushi consumer, having sushi swirl around me on a belt is a dream. Everything is fresh and my favorite item on the menu is the Spicy Tuna Poke bowl. I could eat that for days. 😍

Reminds me of places in SF and hawaii. Glad we finally have one to call our one. Plenty of options for people that don't typically eat sushi. Green tea ice cream is delicious

Just visited them today. Their sushi were much better before quarantine. Do not taste fresh. There was no people besides us and a homeless guy. Service was good. But definitely do not worth the price.

Good sushi, and their salmon lovers roll is especially delicious. I ordered their food through pick up, and they were very fast with their service. The only con is that the sushi seems too expensive, compared to other similar sushi places (like Kyoto sushi that offers similar quality sushi at lower prices).

So delicious.
Got the avocado, asparagus cucumber roll; the peanut butter jelly roll and two other kinds.
Only $14.00 for everything.
My friend got the firecracker roll and the spicy crab roll.
He also got some warm Sake.
Only $20!

I read that Sushi Train suffered damage from the violence in Aug 2020. I am sorry that happened to your restaurant.
I'm gonna go there, I love sushi, Im sure yours is excellent.

A very excellent experience here. Every staff member we met was happy to be there. It really seemed like they had an excellent company culture. The food was delicious. I recommend getting any fried rolls ordered yourself rather than off the conveyor, just so that it's hot and fresh. A place that's definitely worth going.

Great service! The way they were able to keep the conveyor belt running during covid was a huge plus

I have been here for dine in and it’s great and fresh. The two times I’ve gotten take out though, the sushi has not been fresh, and the deep fried rolls are cold and hard, like it has been taken off the conveyer belt instead of made fresh.

We got a salmon poke bowl and a number of things from the sushi train. I loved the poke bowl (my dining companion doesn’t like spicy mayo so didn’t like it), and the sushi was very good. I liked the smaller portions because it allowed you to grade up or down your food based on how hungry you were, and the salmon avocado, peanut avocado, sashimi, and most things were delicious when we got them. We didn’t get it, but they also had peanut butter jelly rolls that looked great for kids. Their COVID spacing was great, and for a more casual conveyer belt sushi place they did a great job of keeping people separate.

I ordered via Grubhub and the fish and salmon roe were old. The restaurant was called and they said they do not give refunds for food quality. Scary when a sushi restaurant isn’t concerned about food safety. Avoid.

Had a delicious meal ordered but I was disappointed to find out that while 3 pieces of salmon sashimi are about $5, the Toro Tuna (single piece) is about $7. That is not an issue as Toro is expensive. But the piece I got is about a third of a full slice. Roughly the size of a quarter, whereas the salmon is about 3 inches (as are all other sashimi). I do not think this is the normal size, as like I said its barely about as big as a quarter, less than a bite. For $7. Not impressed as the flavor isn't even very full, its just very fishy. Salmon is amazing though.

I only come to Minneapolis once a year, but the last time I was in town I came here so many times and it was so delicious. I live in Nebraska and even though I love the sushi places in town, I still want to be back here just thinking about it. I can't wait to be back again next year! Highly recommend coming in if you're ready for a good place to eat!

Ive posted this review before but mysteriously all their reviews from over 2 months ago vanished. Was here from out of town for an event a while ago. We called to place a reservation a day in advance and they did not honor the reservation because they were too busy. Had to wait over an hour past our reservation time. (Kinda defeats the purpose of a reservation) Food was not bad, but over priced.

If you’re new to sushi this is a great place to go because you get to see all the sushi traveling around the room and choose what looks good (instead of looking at a menu and guessing what might be good). If you’re a sushiholic like me, it’s a bit dangerous because you’ll want to try everything!

Love love love this place. Great options and not crazily priced although you have to be careful because those plates can add up super fast. The staff is always super helpful and friendly. Have never had a bad time in the dozens of time I’ve been there. Will always recommenced this place as long as they keep heading in the right direction.

Better quality than all you can eat places. Good variety for a sushi place. Super fast as the food is always moving on the belt.

So much fun! The final price will add up fast if you're not careful. Like I am not careful. Sushi plates vary in color which dictates the cost. You stack them up and that's your total at the end. Most expensive plate was $5.75 bit of course I had 3 of them. Wish they had more tap beer choices but still very cool place.
